When you boot, does it ask you which O/S you want to boot to?

Let me clarify, does it ask you to boot to XP or XP 2?

I succesfully erased WinXP by reformatting the Drive. I still get "OS Choice Menu when I am booting up the computer and there is nolonger a choice to make. How do I avoid this screen and just boot directly into WinXP? Thank you for all your help.

Did you make sure that you deleted and created a new partition before you formatted? It may still have system and boot files.

No, he has to modify the Boot Loader, thats why I asked him that.

It is better to go step by step than to get in a hurry, or else you can dig yourself further in to a hole. I waited an hour to get a response back from him last night.

This is another reason I never like too many chefs in the kitchen.

Your BOOT.INI may currently look something like this:
------------
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\Whatever="Microsoft Windows XP Home" /fastdetect

It really doesnt matter what it says, just note that it says Home, or Pro.

If you are using XP Pro:

Copy your Boot.ini to a floppy for safe keeping

Right Click My Computer > Advanced > Properties.

Click Edit, and make sure it say this:

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S [operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

Then File > SAVE and close.

You can just replace the old with this by pasting, or edit the other, whichever.

your boot sector is inaccurate, to repair it...boot from the windows xp cd and go to the "recovery console" aka "repair" installation. then type 'fixboot' without the quotes, hit enter, restart...should be good to go.

EDIT: stupid krell...yes, that would probably be a better way to do it...now that i think about it, mine probably wouldn't work :-B

EDIT: okay, use my solution if you had another bootloader, such as lilo...not for this situation. (i knew it was useful for something lol)
