Is there gonna be a new WinMX soon? its been close to a year since the crappy 3.31 got released.
And WinMX was far the best for movies and music and speed.
Just wondering if any of you experts out there have any info.

Well since the article on slyck about the new winmx version.. its been about 3 months.. yet the person said it would be out in 2-6 weeks..
I believe FrontCode are working on something really great and when the new version does come out.. it will be great
So have patience.. it can come out anytime now...

WinMX usually takes a while to make a new version, but they always come out with something good.

The current version of WinMX works fine for me but the user base is the biggest problem.

What do you mean with "the user base is the biggest problem"?

yes, winmx is probably only second to kazaa. but i think kazaa lies about their 'userbase', so i think winmx probably has the biggest.

Long queues occur because there are many more people downloading from others than uploading and sharing their own material. I leave WinMX on constantly and I routinely get about 10 people in my queue. Only once every two weeks do I bother to download a song. If others were doing the same, then there would be no queues.
Unfortunately what is happening with WinMX users is that a good number of them only connect to the network when they want to download something. People don't connect in order to share their material. So this is what is wrong with the user base.
Long queues are caused by the fact that more people are seeking than sharing. The greed and selfishness of the userbase is causing the long queues.

Sorry?! What!
How can the user base of WinMX be any different from other networks & clients?
As is evident from this forum, many users use more than one network at some time or other.
As for the queues. Surely the crime of WinMX is that it shows that you are queued, while others don't show this in such an obvious way. I use K++ & Shareza, and in both I have to wait ages for them to connect to others to start DL for many files.
What I'm waiting to be solved in the new version: when I reconnect to the internet after my connect is lost (my ISP :finger cuts me off after 2 hrs) and I can't reconnect - or even queue up! - with a user, who I was previously DL from, yet they're still online!

A feature I would like to see in WinMX, is the user's reported connection speed dropped, and instead replaced by the amount the user has limited in his preferences for uploading bandwidth.

I say piss quack on the new version of queMX. The easy way to avoid the ques; Learn how to beg.
Next time you're in a que, send a message to the person you want the file from and say,
...please, please, start my download so I can get this file for my crippled mother!!!!!
Or something to that effect.
You'd be amazed at how many bytes I've sniped in this fashion.
Priority? Fuhk'em

Hot Head, if you don't like it, don't use it. If you hate it then don't look at threads in the Winmx section.
You're opinions have been noted. Some members like this application & don't need to see your repetitive negative comments. I suggest finding the section in ZP that pertains to the app that you like & contributing something positive.

But I do like it when it works. I read these threads because I'm searching for the magic pill that will make it work for me like it does for you.
I complain because........God let's you live longer when you do.
